Over the Edge Audio, now in a new location, strives to provide affordable and quality products.
Stationed at 1620 Locust Ave. in Fairmont, Over the Edge Audio specializes in remote starters, alarm systems, and rims and tires.
The business can work on car stereos and speakers, install CD players and mobile video, and do custom interior. It also offers window tinting, minor accessories such as bug shields, and other customized services.
“I’m willing to do anything,” owner Bill Edwards said.
He is the sole proprietor of the shop, which officially opened in March 2006. During its two years in business, Over the Edge Audio has been housed at four different locations.
Edwards, a Fairmont native, started the enterprise at his house, but then moved it to Fairmont Avenue to provide more space. After next relocating to an “in-between building” that didn’t work out, he found Over the Edge Audio’s present site and started business there at the beginning of March.
The new shop has been staying extremely busy, Edwards said.
The owner has about 16 years of experience in the automobile industry, starting in high school, and has worked at several different car shops in the area. Even during his time in the military, Edwards got some side jobs doing this type of work.
“I’ve always been around the industry,” he said. “I have a passion. I love it.”
Edwards said he decided to start his own business because he “got tired of working for everybody else.” He works with his customers to help them save money and do smart upgrades.
“I’m not going to sell you something small so I can sell you something big later,” he said. “I like to give my customers what they need.”
Edwards basically does all the work himself, but he has a few people who help him if necessary. Over the Edge Audio has the capability of storing three cars inside its install bay.
Over the Edge Audio is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information, call 366-TUNE.
