Three chambers of commerce in the region are coming together to honor the 20th anniversary of the Teaming to Win Conference.
The Marion County Chamber of Commerce, Harrison County Chamber of Commerce and Morgantown Area Chamber of Commerce are hosting a “Salute to Teaming to Win” at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the I-79 Technology Park Research Center in Fairmont.
“We wanted to salute the concept of Teaming to Win,” Tina Shaw, president of the Marion County Chamber of Commerce, said. “We ourselves are partnering in the spirit of Teaming to Win.”
According to information provided by Teaming to Win Inc., a nonprofit organization, the initial conference was held on May 15, 1990 in Morgantown. The event came out of the First Congressional District Procurement Team, which Congressman Alan B. Mollohan developed in an effort to form a small business support system in West Virginia.
The conference, which is organized by volunteers and directors, has been a great success among the business community over the years and is considered a premiere networking opportunity. It focuses on “teaming among businesses and organizations to win contracts, provide services or develop products.”
The 2009 Teaming to Win Conference is scheduled for Oct. 13-15 at the West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation’s I-79 Technology Park Research Center. This year marks the first time that the event is being held in Fairmont.
Participants have the chance to identify teaming partners, meet government agencies and prime contractors during workshops, and learn from knowledgeable speakers. Business leaders from across the state gather in one place to work on promoting their offerings and expanding.
