WHITE HALL — TanFastics in White Hall, which recently moved, wants customers to feel comfortable every time they visit.

The store, owned by Gary Wilfong, is now located in the newly constructed Tygart Commons shopping plaza between Walmart and Tygart Valley Cinemas. TanFastics joins several other businesses that have moved into the complex since the beginning of the year, including Wilfong’s G&S Wireless shop, which opened there at the end of April.

TanFastics was previously stationed at the Middletown Mall, which had been its home for several years but had gotten pretty cramped. It officially began operating at Tygart Commons on Sept. 24, said Linda Barker, general manager of all the TanFastics stores in the area.

She said the shopping plaza sees a lot of traffic with Walmart nearby and is a great location with easy access. TanFastics also has a lot more room at its new location.

“This is more of a spa atmosphere,” Barker said. “It’s really relaxing, and it’s really spacious.”

TanFastics has six lay-down tanning beds and one stand-up tanning bed, and music plays in the rooms, she said. The business accepts appointments, but walk-ins are also welcome.

While clients are tanning, their family members can relax in the waiting area, which has a big-screen TV, four large wicker chairs with cushions and a coffee table with seats that pull out from underneath, Barker said. Also, customers will immediately notice the waterfall that covers one wall.

She said the new location is very classy and completely different from their old space at the mall. The entire store has been decorated using earth tones, and the tile floor turned out very nice, Barker commented.

“Everyone is just amazed at how beautiful it is,” she said. “It’s a huge improvement.”

TanFastics carries a line of products called Susan’s Soaps, out of Dallas, Texas, which includes soaps, salt scrubs, sugar scrubs, moisturizers, gift sets and more. The shop is getting ready to bring in a line of West Virginia-made candles and hopes to offer even more products in the future.

Shasta Shaver is the manager of the store. The team of seven staff members tries to ask clients what they can do to make them more comfortable and wants feedback from them about their experiences, Barker said.

“We cater to the customer, try to give them what they want,” she said.

If the shop doesn’t have a certain lotion that a customer wants, for example, the staff is willing to order that product for them. Barker said TanFastics is doing well at its new store, especially for this time of year when the typical tanning season is coming to an end.

“I’m surprised that we’re as busy as we are,” she said.

TanFastics in White Hall is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 304-333-8826.
