FAIRMONT — East Side Automobile Detailing is all about friendly, affordable service.

On Sept. 3, owner David Heston opened his new business on the East Side of Fairmont at 1500 Morgantown Ave.

He offers a quick clean for vehicles, which includes a basic wash, cleaning the windows, vacuuming the interior and wiping off the dash. Customers can also get a complete clean and detail, which involves serious cleaning compounds, carpet scrubbing and more. In addition, East Side Automobile Detailing can do different wax jobs, depending on the condition of the vehicle and what it needs.

Heston knows that people often don’t have time to clean their cars or just aren’t fond of doing this work. So that’s where he comes in to help them out.

Heston grew up in the Friendly City and attended Fairmont State University. During college, he worked at an auto detailing business that was located in the same building where his shop is today.

In 1999, he moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C., where he was employed in the food service industry and managed a bar. On the side, Heston also did detailing work for a lot of boats, RVs and motorcycles.

While he loved the beach life, he made the move back to Fairmont almost a year ago so he could be with his family, who still live in the area.

He found out that the building at 1500 Morgantown Ave. had been sitting empty for a while and was available, and decided to establish East Side Automobile Detailing there. After spending some time cleaning up the space, which had been used for storage previously, Heston had it ready for operation.

“I’ve always wanted to have my own business,” he said.

He said he likes the location of his shop, which is in a high-traffic area and is convenient for people on the East Side. He has been getting inquiries about his business’ services, and residents are surprised and excited to learn that East Side Automobile Detailing is open.

“I think there’s a demand for it,” Heston said of these services.

He commented that this work is relaxing, and he enjoys being able to go at his own pace. But he also doesn’t mind working hard.

Heston also would like to get into cleaning fleet vehicles for companies. He wants to make his services as convenient as possible for all of his customers.

East Side Automobile Detailing is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Heston is in the process of determining Sunday hours of operation. For more information, call 304-816-7301.
