WHITE HALL — The new Sally Beauty Supply in White Hall provides solutions for “all things beauty.”

The store is located in the newly constructed Tygart Commons shopping plaza between Walmart and Tygart Valley Cinemas. Sally Beauty Supply joins several other businesses — including Game Exchange, rue21, G&S Wireless and Shoe Show — that have moved into the complex since January. Other shops are expected to open within the plaza soon.

“Sally Beauty offers professional, quality products at competitive prices,” said Jan Roberts, director of corporate communications for the company.

She said these stores can solve any problems with customers’ hair, nails and skin, which is what makes the company special.

Sally Beauty Supply LLC was founded in New Orleans, La., 47 years ago. It has more than 3,200 stores around the world, including 2,700 in the United States and Canada. Locations are also found in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Chile, Mexico, France, Ireland, Spain, the Netherlands and Germany, Roberts said.

“We’re opening stores all the time,” she said.

Roberts said the new White Hall shop, which began operations on June 4, is the fourth Sally Beauty Supply to open in West Virginia.

“Obviously, when we open a new store, we study what the needs of the marketplace are and if there are customers in that market that have the same characteristics of our very best customers, which are our Beauty Club card members,” she said.

Because White Hall met this criteria, the company felt it would be a good place to establish a store, Roberts said. Each location is generally 1,500 square feet and features more than 6,000 items.

The general public as well as professionals shop at Sally Beauty Supply, she said. About 30 percent of business comes from professionals like nail technicians and hair stylists.

Four or five employees typically staff every store, Roberts said.

“The most important factor is our employees,” she said. “We pride ourselves on hiring very educated beauty consumers. Over half of our employees have a cosmetology training so that they really are able to solve your problems.”

If a customer wants to do her own hair color, for instance, the staff members can teach her how to do it. The stores don’t sell box kits — only professional hair color, which gives people a bigger color range to choose from and color that is better quality and will last longer, Roberts said.

“Come shop with us,” she said. “We’d love to see all of the people in the neighborhood, so stop on by.”

Sally Beauty Supply in White Hall is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 304-363-9792.
