    The team of the new Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham is glad to be in Fairmont.
    The hotel, located at 20 Southland Drive next to the Middletown Mall, officially opened its doors on Friday, March 21. That afternoon, the management team and staff welcomed members of the public to tour the new facility and enjoy lunch during an open house.

    Fancy Nancy’s Gift Shop wants to help bring people to Mannington for great experiences.  
    The business, owned by Nancy Suter, began operating at 122 Market St. in October 2013, officially opening its doors on the Saturday of Mannington’s Octoberfest. Nancy’s husband, Ralph Suter, is also involved in the store, which shares a building with a new nTelos business. The employees of nTelos help run Fancy Nancy’s Gift Shop.

  • WVU journalism school to change name to Reed College of Media

    This summer, West Virginia University’s Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism will have a new name to help strengthen its position in the future of media.
    The name will officially change to the Reed College of Media on July 1 of this year, 75 years after the school was founded by Perley Isaac Reed, who was a journalism professor.

  • Experts say hike in state minimum wage would have variety of impacts

    Economic experts believe a minimum wage increase, which is currently being considered in the West Virginia Legislature, could have a variety of impacts on the state.
    On Feb. 12, the House of Delegates passed legislation aimed at increasing the minimum wage in the state by $1.50 within two years, and the bill is now awaiting action in the Senate.
