  • A night to remember
    Prom is a night when one can expresses oneself as an individual, a class and even a school.
    It takes may months to plan the perfect prom, especially the one that Fairmont Senior High is producing this spring. With a collaboration of ideas, the junior class decided that the ideal location of the 2008 had to be on the majestic Gateway Clipper.
  •  Jared Fogle: A good person to get inspiration from
    "Jared got big on burger and fries, now he’s down to a smaller size. Subway: Eat fresh!” could be heard on most televisions in 2000 when America said “hello” to Jared Fogle, the Subway representative.
    Fogle participated in the Festival of Ideas at West Virginia University recently.
  • Homer Hickam: A West Virginian legacy
    Coal mining is part of West Virginia’s heritage, with 117 coal seams in West Virginia, 65 of them are considered mine able.
    Fifty-three out of 55 counties in the state produce coal, thus West Virginia produces about 15 percent of the total coal production in the U.S.
  •  Getting lost in translation
    I swallowed deep, bitter mouthfuls of air, scanning the balconies for someone I recognized. Even though I knew only two people in the entire building, both of whom were related to me, the journey should have been a piece of cake. After all, buildings have finite space and hold a finite number of people; therefore, I was positively guaranteed to find anyone easily.
  • Preparing for AP
    The Advanced Placement students at East Fairmont High School are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the impending AP exams.
    The exams are all given in May, and most students are apprehensive of taking the tests. If a student fails the exams, he/she does not get the AP credit on his/her transcript.

    It has been 44 years since the Fab Four first came to America but to some, it seems like just yesterday.
    When John, Paul, George and Ringo first stepped off that plane in 1964 with their moptops and guitars, they could have never imagined the success that they would still be having almost 50 years later.

    They’re loud. They’re proud. They’re overflowing with school spirit and Husky pride, and they even have their own Facebook group and T-shirts.

  • Welcome to‘Huggs Town’
    "Huggs Town” ... sounds like a preschool where a caring staff affectionately doles out hugs as a form of positive behavior reinforcement. Or maybe a stuffed animal factory that produces cuddly teddy bears. Or maybe not.
    You’ve seen the slogan on T-shirts, “Welcome to Huggs Town” they say.
  •  Taking a break from it all
    Spring break is the last official “break” students have until summer vacation.
    Many students are looking forward to this week of relaxation because after this, school will seem to fly by, and that means summer is right around the corner.
