‘The Dark Knight’ hits theatres

By Ashley Goodwin
Times West Virginian

One of the most anticipated movies of the summer was “The Dark Knight.”

What exactly did viewers think of the summer’s block buster?

Laura Wilson responded, “’The Dark Knight’ was a great movie because it was action-packed, extremely well written, had an amazing plot line that didn’t become boring or drawn out, and the acting was phenomenal.”

Thomas Stout replied, “The movie was great! A lot better than the last Batman. This movie was more dark and edgy.”

Dave Hill stated, “I liked the movie because Health Ledger was a great joker. It was a long movie though.”

Laura Stevens stated, “The movie was good. It was really long, but everything was important and it still kept your interest throughout the movie.”

David Goodwin replied, “I loved the movie. It was awesome. It was more like the comic books. It was just a dark movie in general.”

Michael Merrifield stated, “The movie was by far better than the first one of the series because it didn't need to build up the Batman character. It just went straight to fighting the criminals of Gotham City.”

Was it the movie of the summer?

Stout replied, “That’s a tough one. There’s still movies out there to take that sport. But this movie is in my Top 3.”

Goodwin stated, “Yeah, statistically the movie made $80 million in the first night. It also broke the midnight viewing records.”

Hill stated, “I don’t know. I wouldn’t consider it being the movie of the summer. I think ‘Iron Man’ was better.’

Stevens stated, “No. ‘Sex and the City’ was my movie of the summer.”

Wilson replied, “This was one of the two movies that I had anticipated seeing this summer and was above and beyond what I had expected it to be.”

Merrifield said, “So far I would say it is the best movie of the summer. The new ‘Mummy’ movie might rival it, though.”

Do you believe “The Dark Knight” was a remake?

Merrifield replied, “I would not really call it a remake by any means. Sure the Joker still does his thing, but the story line is much more different than ones before. The movie just keeps building up, leaving you wondering what’s next.”

Stout stated, “No it wasn’t a remake. Different storyline and ‘The Dark Knight’ is its own movie.”

Stevens replied, “This version was by far different. It was produced by a different guy than the first one.”

Goodwin stated, “No its not a remake. You can’t even compare.”

Hill replied, “No, the Joker was a lot darker. The movie was real dark.”

What was your favorite part of the movie?

Wilson explained, “I didn’t have a favorite part of the movie because the entire movie in itself was amazing. It’s a shame that Health Ledger isn’t around to see his performance in this movie because it was nothing less than perfection.”

Stevens stated, “My favorite part was near the end. The last 45 minutes was really interesting the way it ties the whole movie together.”

Hill replied, “After they get the joker in jail. I didn’t expect it. It was definitively a plot twist.”

Goodwin replied, “When we were first introduced to the Joker.”

Stout stated, “The movie tricked me. My favorite part was when the Joker talks to the mob.”

Merrifield stated, “This was Heath’s best film. He played the part perfect, it sent chills down your spine sometimes.”
