    The West Virginia Conference announced its 2009 all-conference football team Tuesday and Fairmont State’s Nate Black, Luke Black and Dewey McDonald all earned first-team honors from the league.
    Three other Falcons, Zack Page, Stephan Johnson and Kyle Knight, were named to the second-team unit, while Doug Brazill, Greg Underwood and Drew Rossignol all received honorable mention on the squad.

    The day Thad McFadden has been waiting on since the end of the 2008-09 college basketball season has finally arrived.
    McFadden, Fairmont State University’s second-team All-American guard, recently signed a professional contract with Basketbalovy Klub Usti in the Czech Republic and departed for Europe Tuesday.

    West Virginia State’s defense, a unit which had been maligned pretty much all season, came up big here against Fairmont State on a beautiful summer-like November Saturday afternoon in its season finale at Lakin Field.
    The Yellow Jackets stopped a potential game-tying Fairmont State drive inside the State 10-yard line in the final two minutes.
