Jason Woodman is coming home and not just for the holidays.
The North Marion High School and Fairmont State University alumnus was named head coach of FSU’s football program Thursday by the school.
“I’m so lucky to have this opportunity,” said Woodman on Thursday evening. “It’s a great opportunity for me and my family to come back home and be at a place that I care a lot about.
“It’s also a chance for me to make a difference and change some of the misfortune of the past. I’m thrilled. I’m excited and I honestly can’t wait to get started. I know I’ve got a big challenge ahead of me. We only have a little over a month until national signing day, and I’ve got to hire a staff and get out on the road and busy recruiting. I’m confident we can sign some quality players, though. In my opinion Fairmont State has the best situation in the conference. It’s a great school with great facilities and great community support. I don’t think it’ll be a problem for us to get young men to come here to get a quality education and play football.”
