COLUMN: Senior season comes full circle for FSU’s Innocent
In like a lion, out like a lamb. That old adage could be used to describe Bri Innocent’s senior season with Fairmont State.
Not to say that she finished her season quietly. Quite the opposite actually.
In her first game in a Falcon uniform, she played like a lion, pouring in 20 points and ripping down 10 rebounds.
FSU looks to close regular season with win
Fairmont State University’s men’s basketball team closed practice on Thursday the way it hopes to close out the regular season today at home against Shepherd at 4 p.m., directly following the women’s contest at 2 p.m.

FSU offering $1 tickets for Saturday’s games
The Fairmont State athletic department will be offering a $1 general admission ticket to any fan that donates a non-perishable food or personal care item at Saturday’s basketball doubleheader against Shepherd.
The doubleheader will begin at 2 p.m. with the women’s game and will be followed by the men’s contest at approximately 4 p.m.
Lady Falcons top Washington Adventist
Fairmont State’s Lady Falcons overcame some sloppy play, a bit of foul trouble and a late comeback bid by Washington Adventist University here Thursday evening at The Pitt to record a hard-fought 68-59 nonconference victory.

The Cavaliers, who entered Saturday afternoon’s Senior Day contest with the visiting Falcons at the David J. Prior Convocation Center having lost five in a row, seven of their last eight and were locked in a tie for ninth place in the 12-team Mountain East Conference, held off a second-half rally by FSU which forced overtime and then took care of business in the extra five minutes without some of their best players to eke out a 77-74 victory.
Lady Falcons finish strong in 71-56 romp over Wise
Maybe it was the fourth straight day of being on the road or maybe it was something else.
Whatever the case, Fairmont State’s Lady Falcons looked a bit out of sorts and uninspired through the first 16 minutes of action here Saturday afternoon against Virginia-Wise at the David J. Prior Convocation Center and as a result trailed the Mountain East Conference’s 10th-place team by nine points.
Fairmont State looking for redemption over UVa-Wise
Fairmont State (17-8) is looking to get some revenge when it travels to take on UVa-Wise (9-14) today.
When the men tip off at 3 p.m., the Falcons will be hoping to avenge an 82-77 loss which they endured back on Jan. 13, on their home court.
FSU shuts down Concord in romp
There was a point late in Fairmont State's game with Concord University here Thursday night at the Carter Center when Falcon coach Jerrod Calhoun just shook his head and smiled.
The second-year FSU boss demands that his team attempts night in and night out to play staunch defense.
