Martha (Janie) Snider Dodd

Martha (Janie) Jane Snider Dodd passed away on Tuesday (Sept. 16, 2008) from a heart attack in Gainesville, Va.

She was born May 21, 1945, a daughter of the late Gilbert R. Snider and Estella Ruth Ryan Snider in Mannington.

She attended Mannington High School.

Janie was a loving wife, grandmother and homemaker. Even in death she was a giving person. As an organ donor, she has helped others to have a better life.

Janie is survived by her beloved husband, Robert R. Dodd of Gainesville, Va.

Also surviving are two sons, Robert R. (Bobby) Dodd and his wife Barbara of Leesburg, Va., and Richard R. Dodd and his wife Pam of Vienna, Va.; five grandchildren, whom she adored, Marissa, 13, Cameron, 10, and Heather Dodd, 6, all of Leesburg, Va., and Ryan, 10, and Raydon Dodd, 6, of Vienna; two brothers, Clarence E. Snider of Cape Coral, Fla., and Charles H. (Sonny) Snider of Artemas, Pa.; and three sisters, Catherine L. Snider Jones of Canton, Ohio, Grace M. Snider Hornor of Glen Burnie, Md., and Laura Snider Sypolt of Fairmont.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William L. Snider and Gerald L. Snider; a sister-in-law, Ethel M. Snider; and a brother-in-law, Ralph E. Sypolt.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Pierce Funeral Home, 9606 Center St., Manassas, Va. A private, family-only, funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery Chapel in Manassas, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to C.O.R.E., the organ donation organization.
