Police identify victim of car accident

Police have released the name of a woman killed in an early morning accident Saturday.
Joyce Ann Cook, 56, of Fairview was pronounced dead on the scene by first-responders. Police are still investigating the incident, said Detective Sgt. Matt Pigott of the Fairmont Police Department.
He added that he could not currently release any information concerning how the accident occurred. Pigott asked anyone with information about the accident to contact the police department at 366-2217.
“Right now we’re working to piece together what happened,” Pigott said.
According to initial reports, the fatal accident occurred on Booths Creek Road. A Marion County dispatcher said the initial call about the accident was received at 5:19 a.m. According to reports, the car was discovered on its top in the stream along the road.
Marion County Emergency Medical Service personnel responded to the scene as did the Fairmont Fire Department.
