Sophomores from all three high schools got some hands-on education today during the annual High School Business Symposium sponsored by the Marion County Chamber of Commerce.
Tina Shaw, president of the chamber, said 37 sophomore students from Fairmont Senior, East Fairmont and North Marion high schools participated in the event.
Participants were broken up into three teams. Shaw said the groups teamed students from each school together, so schools weren’t facing off against each other.
When the students arrived, they were given a project. Each team was to redesign the Beltline area of Fairmont.
“They’ve got a jump start with the new middle school, East-West Stadium and the 12th Street Pool will be reopening this summer,” Shaw said.
