County stops to pay tribute to fallen soldiers

New York native Mike Giovinazzo returns to Fairmont every Memorial Day to pay tribute to Lance Corporal Victor Tarasuk, his friend who died in the Vietnam War.
Giovinazzo, who served in Vietnam himself, spoke at the Memorial Day service of the Marion County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Inc. held Monday night at East Marion Park in Fairmont. The audience gathered in front of the monument there, which is dedicated “to all who served in Vietnam and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
Each day is Memorial Day for combat veterans, who will never forget their fallen friends, Giovinazzo said.
