Municipal elections on tap today

Citizens in many of Marion County’s towns and cities have an opportunity to make their voices heard at the ballot box today.
The towns of Fairview, Farmington, Monongah, Rivesville, Worthington and White Hall are holding their municipal elections between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. at their respective city halls.
In Fairview, perennial mayoral candidate Denny “Poppy” Copen and councilman Doug White are running for mayor. Mayor David Underwood has decided not to seek re-election, but instead is running for council.
Incumbent recorder Heather Tuttle is running unopposed.
Six candidates seek five seats on council: Cathy Haught, Holly Robinette Morris, Don Pyles, David Tuttle (husband of the town recorder), Chester Summers (incumbent) and Underwood.
In Farmington, council member Donna Costello is running unopposed for mayor. If elected, Costello would be the first female mayor the town has had.
Six candidates seek five spots on council: Barrie Sanders, Valerie Sanders and Isabelle Roach (incumbents) and Stephanie Jones Cummons, Jonathan Toothman and Jon F. Sanders, who currently serves as mayor.
