Right place, right time

Jimmy Halterman credited with saving Fairmont man’s life

FAIRMONT — Lorie Greynolds knows a hero when she sees one.

And she believes Jimmy Halterman certainly qualifies as an “Everyday Hero.”

“If it were not for him,” Lorie says, “my son would probably be dead.

“He stayed with him after his accident until he was on his way to the hospital,” she continued. “He stayed with my son the whole time.”

Jimmy Halterman certainly qualifies as an “Everyday Hero.”



Driving on I-79

Christopher Greynolds was driving on Interstate 79 when he either fell sleep, lost control or whatever. But his car hit the railing and followed the railing until it stopped.

“I was behind him,” Halterman said. “I was bringing my son home from Weston. It was around 1:30 a.m. An ambulance that was transporting a patient to Morgantown, Pittsburgh or somewhere came by and stopped.

“He stoped in front of me,” Halterman said. “He started to get out of his ambulance, but then he said he didn’t have any gloves. But he went to the car that had wrecked and looked in and pronounced the driver dead.”

But Halterman checked for himself.
