The United Way of Marion County held its Celebration of Service luncheon Tuesday, celebrating the successful completion of the 2008-09 campaign.
“This was our do-or-die date,” United Way executive director Tiffany Walker Samuels said, noting that the campaign was over on this date whether the goal was achieved or not.

A highlight of the luncheon, in which many awards were presented, was the presentation of the President’s Award to Toni Balenger of the United Way staff — the No. 2 person of a two-woman operation.
