If all goes as planned, area children can begin splashing around in the 12th Street Pool again by noon today.
A little more than two weeks ago, county officials temporarily closed the downtown facility after receiving complaints that several children had scraped their feet on the surface of the floor.
And now, following a joint effort by the Marion County Commission and the Marion County Parks and Recreation Commission (MCPARC) to repair the chipped paint that caused the issues, the pool will be back up and running.
“The paint chips have all been taken care of. We repainted the floor and cleaned everything up. We will be ready to open tomorrow at noon,” pool maintenance supervisor Alfred Knoll said Wednesday.
