I-79 paving project to be finished this week

FAIRMONT — A section of Marion County interstate received a face-lift this year thanks to the federal stimulus plan.

Danny Donlin Jr., West Virginia Division of Highways District 4 area construction engineer, said the paving of a 2.19-mile section of I-79 from the Pricketts Fort exit to the East Park Avenue exit is set to be finished by the end of the week.

“The only thing left are the delineators in the shoulder area,” he said.

This project, which came in at a total $1.1 million, was fully funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), which has provided $19 billion in total to more than 5,300 projects across the state, according to a release from Washington, D.C., distributed last week.
