There’s the three-legged race and there’s the wheelbarrow race, and at Fairview’s Fourth of July celebration on Saturday, there was the three-legged wheelbarrow race.
That meant the nine participants — three kids on three teams — had to divvy up and tie two legs of two different participants together while holding the feet of the third team member, who walked on his or her hands to the finish line.
That was the idea, anyway. Only one team was able to get any distance at all, while the other two were flummoxed by the necessary coordination of not only having two people walk as one but also having to push the “wheelbarrow” member.
The team made up of a trio of 11-year-olds — Austin Bingamon, Shasta Pyles and Danny Summers — looked as they had been practicing as they zoomed down and then back toward the finish line.
