America’s power-delivery system and the need to upgrade electric transmission lines will be discussed this week in Shepherdstown.
West Virginians for Reliable Power — a group of businesses, trade associations and labor representatives — is sponsoring the meeting Wednesday at the Clarion Hotel & Conference Center.
National experts will discuss the implications of the current transmission system on reliability, national defense and homeland security.
Speakers include officials with the Edison Electric Institute and PJM Interconnection.
Edison is an association of publicly held electric companies, representing about 70 percent of the U.S. industry.
PJM operates the world’s largest competitive wholesale market, covering parts of 13 states and the District of Columbia.
