The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has put its stamp of approval on the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Home in Clarksburg.
The state learned of the tentative decision June 27, but Department of Military and Veterans Affairs spokesman Joe Thornton says it’s now official.
For two weeks, federal authorities have been reviewing blueprints, organizational charts and financial forecasts.
Administrator Kevin Crickard says federal inspectors praised his staff for an exceptional job in five areas: policies and procedures; pharmaceutical services; patient activities; patient care; and quality of life.
It took the $26 million, 120-bed home three tries to pass muster with state inspectors.
It’s now adding about two residents a week. As of Wednesday, there were 16.
