A 19-year-old Fairmont State University student is being held on two felony charges of selling marijuana to an undercover police officer, police said.
John D. Keener II, originally of Charleston, was arrested Monday by officers with the Three Rivers Drug Task Force.
Keener allegedly sold marijuana on Sept. 15 and Sept. 24 to an undercover police officer, according to a criminal complaint filed in Marion County Magistrate Court.
The transaction was recorded on audio and video by the task force, the complaint states.
Magistrate Cathy Reed-Vanata set Keener’s bond at $10,000 cash or surety on each charge.
A conviction for delivering a controlled substance carries a penalty of one- to five-years imprisonment and a fine of up to $15,000, or both penalties.
The local drug task force is made up of officers from the Marion County Sheriff’s Department and the Fairmont Police Department.
