Street levy going to voters

Five-year Fairmont plan could generate more than $4.7 million

By J. Miles Layton

FAIRMONT City council adopted a new five-year levy that could raise more than $4.7 million to pave and repair city streets.

The voters will have to decide in the May 2010 primary whether or not to increase property taxes.

“Council wishes to give the voters a choice,” said councilman Chuck Warner.
