A Marion County couple was arrested Monday following charges of sexual abuse by a parent or guardian and child neglect.
David James Glover, 51, of 2017 Seven Springs Drive, Fairmont, was arrested by the West Virginia State Police on six charges of felony child sexual abuse by a parent or guardian.
A representative of Marion County Magistrate Court said he was charged with 16 counts and is being held on $50,000 cash bond for each count, totaling $800,000.
His wife, Tammy Sue Glover, 32, was arrested on a single felony count of child neglect creating risk of injury. She is being held on a $10,000 surety bond.
According to the criminal complaint filed by WVSP Cpl. Adam Scott, David Glover is accused of sexually abusing his stepdaughter multiple times beginning sometime last fall and continuing through the first of this month. According to the complaint, the alleged incidents happened more than 20 times.
Based on the graphic criminal complaint, the 10-year-old victim was explicit in her descriptions when she was interviewed by Scott. According to the complaint, the girl also revealed David Glover had attempted to molest a friend of hers at the Glover home, but the other girl ran away.
According to the complaint, the alleged victim told her mother, Tammy Glover, and grandmother about the abuse, and they didn’t believe her.
“She said that her mother told her that they would have to live under a bridge,” the complaint stated.
Under questioning by Scott, Tammy Glover admitted the girl had reported the abuse about a year ago. When she confronted David Glover, he denied it, so she told the girl she didn’t believe her but began to watch for signs of abuse.
According to the complaint, Tammy Glover went into her bedroom one morning to find the girl on top of David Glover in the bed and thought that was odd, but she did nothing.
The complaint states under questioning, David Glover began to “wail and cry uncontrollably” and said everyone would hate him and he was sorry.
Glover denied performing some of the acts the girl described and stated the abuse happened five times or less, according to the complaint.
