County helps fund two local activities

FAIRMONT — The Marion County Commission is helping fund two local activities.

The Town of Rivesville Fourth of July celebration requested $1,500 to help with the fireworks and entertainment on the Rivesville Riverfront. The celebration is free to all tri-county residents.

The Fairview-Grant Town Athletic Association asked for $1,000 to help establish another practice field. Seven teams are sharing the current field.

The town of Grant Town has agreed to allow the players to use the old “Red Summers Ball Field” behind the old Bell’s Market. The group will use the money to purchase gravel to create a parking area as well as other field upgrades.
