Fairmont City Council members adopted an ordinance that is aimed at making the city’s sign regulations more efficient, business friendly and easier to understand.
During Tuesday night’s council meeting, a public hearing was held for an ordinance to amend the City of Fairmont’s Planning Zoning Code to provide updated rules for placing signs within the city limits and also establishing penalties and sign permit fees. Council adopted the measure by unanimous vote.
Fairmont City Planner Kathy Wyrosdick explained that the city’s planning department began working on the revisions to the sign regulations in September 2011.
