FAIRMONT — The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a man in connection with recent burglaries in Fairmont.
Chief Deputy Ralph Wright said the sheriff’s department received a call around 11 p.m. Sunday about a possible breaking and entering in the city’s Bellview area.
Wright declined to name the suspect or the business that was allegedly burglarized.
He said a couple of guys fled the scene on foot, and deputies pursued them.
“A vehicle was left on scene, and through vehicle registration it was traced back to Bon View Avenue,” Wright said.
Deputies obtained a search warrant and served it around 11 a.m. Monday.
Monday’s arrest was related to the string of burglaries that had been happening in the Fairmont area beginning late last summer, Wright said, when numerous houses on the city’s West Side were broken into during the afternoon hours.
