A Marion County woman was taken by air to a local hospital after her home in Deerfield Estates was destroyed in an early-afternoon fire Wednesday.
The home on Brierwood Lane was fully involved when fire fighters arrived shortly before 1 p.m.
A nearby neighbor was burning brush before the fire. The two incidents are not related, officials said.
The woman, whose name is not being released at this time, reportedly suffered from smoke inhalation and second-degree burns.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Units from Boothsville, Monongah, Winfield, Bunner Ridge, Worthington and Barrackville volunteer fire departments, the Marion County Sheriff's Department, the Marion County Rescue Squad and units from Shinnston and Bridgeport responded.
