Chad Norman is ready for the challenge ahead of him in his new position with Marion County Schools.
Superintendent of Schools Gary Price recommended that Norman, principal of Fairmont Senior High School for the past nine years, be reassigned to the position of administrative assistant of technology for the Central Office. This move, effective today, was approved by members of the Marion County Board of Education during Monday night’s meeting.
Price explained that Norman will be in charge of everything related to technology, including the implementation of student and teacher computers, educational programs, the West Virginia Education Information System (WVEIS), phone systems, security systems and more. Price also intends to add more responsibilities outside of technology to Norman’s job.
“Naturally, we were looking for somebody with leadership ability who can see the needs of the county, develop a plan that addresses those needs, and then have the vision and leadership to implement that plan,” Price said. “Mr. Norman has proven himself to be an exceptional leader. We look forward to him bringing that same level of expertise and energy into this new position.”
The open position for principal at Fairmont Senior High School will be posted today.
“We do look forward to finding a strong replacement for him at Fairmont Senior High School,” Price said. “It’ll give somebody a golden opportunity.”
