PLEASANT VALLEY —
Wednesday’s Pleasant Valley council meeting became heated during the community input segment of the meeting.
Jeanette Shannon, a Pleasant Valley resident, petitioned the council for permission to have landscaping done into the right of way on her road to alleviate water-drainage issues.
Councilman Jeff Boyles told her that “we were advised by our attorney that a public right of way is not necessarily a City of Pleasant Valley right of way.”
Conversation between Shannon and Mayor Barbara Metcalfe, who lives on the same road, became a back-and-forth argument over what Shannon could reasonably do. Metcalfe said it wasn’t a matter for public discussion, but the exchange continued until other council members intervened.
