The United Way of Marion County is only a little more than $5,000 from reaching its goal to help keep 21 member agencies funded for another year.
They’re counting on local churches to make up the difference.
The United Way is asking Marion County churches to make Feb. 17 a “Day of Caring,” taking up a special collection to push the campaign over the edge and into its goal.
Executive Director Tiffany Samuels said “the last little bit” is always the hardest part of a United Way fundraising campaign. This year’s goal, set by Pierpont Community & Technical College President Dr. Doreen Larson and her husband Len Larson, was $455,000.
