Special Olympians return to county with some hardware

FAIRMONT — After a weekend of cheerleading competitions and basketball games, a group of Special Olympians returned to Marion County with some hardware.

Joe Petrucci, the county coordinator for the Marion County Special Olympics, said that 30 area athletes competed in the statewide basketball tournament held in Morgantown last weekend.

“There were over 100 games played over the weekend,” Petrucci said. “It was a really festive atmosphere.”
