FAIRMONT — Marion County has six new CASA volunteers.

The new Court Appointed Special Advocates were sworn in Thursday morning by Marion Circuit Judge David Janes.

CASA volunteers act as the voice of abuse and neglected children in the court system.

“They are critically important to articulate the best interests of the children,” Janes said.

CASA and guardians ad litem are on the side of these children, who may feel no one is on their side.

Guardians ad litem are attorneys appointed to each case of child abuse and neglect.
