After receiving a $500 donation on behalf of the Greater Fairmont Council of Churches on Friday, the Christmas Toy Shop is getting nearer to its goal.
Holley Faulkner, the chairman of the Christmas Toy Shop Leadership Team, said that the donations are all in an effort to make Christmas brighter for members of the community.
“There are a lot of children that, because of a variety of circumstances, wouldn’t be able to enjoy toys or any kinds of gifts on Christmas morning,” Faulkner said.
To help children and families in times of need, the Christmas Toy Shop set a cash goal of $10,000 to be used to purchase gifts. According to Faulkner, they are currently at about the halfway point to meeting that goal as the deadline approaches on Monday.
“We really need one last push,” Faulkner said.
