Shoppers turn out in droves for Black Friday

‘Now it’s starting’ to feel like Christmas

MORGANTOWN — After getting off work on Friday afternoon, Gwen Belch decided to take a look at the selection over at the Cracker Barrel retail store in hopes that she would find some unique Christmas ornaments for her Christmas tree.

Just recently, she bought a new house and was anxiously looking forward to having a week off work to decorate. But the Black Friday shopping isn’t for her, she said.

“I’m not really into the crowds,” she said. “I’d rather just pay full price for it. I read all about it to see the crazy stories, but other than that, I’m just glad I’m not one of them.” 

Much to her surprise, Cracker Barrel wasn’t exceptionally crowded in the middle of Black Friday shopping, and she was able to look around the store with ease.

Walmart on Thursday evening was a much different scene. Cars were backed up all the way from Walmart to White Hall Medical, and traffic was cut down to one lane.
