The wait is almost over for the annual Feast of the Seven Fishes Festival, which is a tribute to the Italian culture and lifestyle.
The event, organized by Main Street Fairmont, is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. next Saturday, Dec. 8, in downtown Fairmont along Monroe Street, which will be closed for the occasion. There is no admission charge.
“The overarching theme is that it’s authentic and it’s intimate,” said Kate Greene, executive director of Main Street. “People have so much fun here. The food is fantastic.”
She hopes to see at least 8,000 people attend this Italian-heritage street festival this year. While people often come from Florida, Virginia and Pittsburgh, Pa., the event mostly has a local presence.
“This is a community festival,” Greene said. “You are seeing friends and family when you’re here.”
