Fall sports fans have already had several opportunities to enjoy soccer and football games at East-West Stadium while also being able to take notice of the progress that is being done in regard to the facility’s renovations.
Nancy Bickerstaff of the East-West Stadium Committee said that the first set of restored bleachers has been completed, providing enhanced seating for spectators.
Bickerstaff said the first home football game of the season drew a number of residents to the facility.
"At that game there were between 2,500 and 3,000 people there which is unheard of," she said. "We received a lot of positive comments.”
The committee launched the “Race to the Finish Line” fundraiser in March to raise money to restore the concrete stands and install new bleachers. Each set of 10 bleachers costs approximately $38,000 to complete.
