Possible meth lab investigated

FAIRMONT — Marion County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported explosion on Shady Lane outside Fairmont late Thursday afternoon.

The incident was called in to Marion County 911 as an explosion at around 4:15 p.m.

While there was no evidence of an explosion, deputies are investigating a possible active meth lab at the residence.

No one was injured and everyone in the residence was taken out. There were no children at the residence.

One male has been detained for questioning but has not been arrested, deputies said.

A HAZMAT team trained to handle meth labs arrived shortly before dark.

Law enforcement was still on scene at 7:30 p.m.

The incident is under investigation.
