New arrests made for some old cases

FAIRMONT — On Thursday, the White Hall Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Department made new arrests for some old cases.

Edward Charles Hurd, 30, of 111 Vine St., Fairmont was arrested and charged with false pretenses, which is shorthand for theft committed by dishonest methods.

According to criminal complaints, Hurd walked into Walmart in White Hall on Nov. 11, 2012, put a 47-inch flat-screen television in a shopping cart and walked out of the store with it. On Nov. 12, he allegedly did the same with a 46-inch television, but White Hall police stopped him at the light before he got onto White Hall Boulevard.
