Rivesville man charged with felony assault of police officer

FAIRMONT — A Rivesville man was arrested by Farmington police and charged with felony unlawful assault of an officer April 19.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Marion County Magistrate Court, Richard M. Boyce Jr., 43, of 1039 Radcliff Road, Rivesville, was stopped at a highway safety checkpoint in Rivesville for no proof of insurance by Officer A. Schwartz of the Farmington Police Department, who was assisting Rivesville police.

He allegedly left the car and walked away on Route 19, “yelling at passersby,” despite being told by Rivesville Chief Michael Daff to stop. When Schwartz approached him, Boyce allegedly “started cursing and screaming” that he was just walking.
