Across the U.S. today, citizens are celebrating the country’s independence.
Whether that means attending cookouts, hosting parties or watching fireworks displays over the holiday weekend, there are some who have been celebrating the Fourth of July for weeks.
One Whetstone resident, Tammy Mercer, has had her house decorated with red, white and blue for a few weeks now honoring the ones who have fought for the country’s freedom.
“I love the Fourth of July because it represents our freedom,” she said. “There are people in the service that fight for our country and I’m really grateful for that, and this is my way of thanking them.”
