VALLEY FALLS —
“She’s one lucky girl.”
Friday afternoon, a teenage girl was almost the first drowning victim at Valley Falls State Park in several years.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m., the unidentified teen fell into the rapid currents near the first waterfall and was pushed halfway down to the larger, more dangerous falls.
She reportedly went under the water several times and hit her head, although she didn't lose consciousness.
Mike Keller, who maintains the grounds at the popular picnic spot, was down by the falls when he saw the teen and two sisters walk out to the rocks.
“That’s an accident waiting to happen,” he said he told himself. Within minutes, he was right.
