FAIRMONT — The members of Leadership Marion Class XXXI visited the Times West Virginian Wednesday morning to learn about the newspaper's role within the community.

During the meeting, members heard publisher Chuck Jessup speak about how crucial editorial content and advertising within the products offered by the Times West Virginian are for day-to-day life.

Managing Editor Misty Poe talked about how the newspaper, its online and mobile compenents and social media presence offer readers the news they need to and want to know with a very quick turnaround.

Advertising director Craig Richards explained how ads are conceptualized, developed and built by the newspaper to give readers the best information about the products and services local companies have to offer.

Leadership Marion is a program for people who are motivated by commitment, involvement, understanding and enthusiasm in an effort to foster leadership and stewardship in the community. The main theme of Leadership Marion relates to civic-oriented leadership with its overall mission of empowering others to increase their participation in the life of the community. Graduates of the program become a member of the community service-oriented alumni group called Action Marion.
