The Marion County Board of Education voted for the reduction of 1 1/2 teaching positions during a special session Tuesday.
Following a hearing and the recommendation of Superintendent of Schools Gary Price, the board approved the elimination of Megan Brown’s full position and half of the position held by Brigitte LaFontaine. Brown teaches BASE, which is home economics with different features, to seventh- and eighth-graders at West Fairmont Middle School and East Fairmont Junior High School, and LaFontaine teaches French at East Fairmont High School.
Both professional personnel reductions were passed by a 5-0 vote.
