Excitement builds as big crowd enjoys FSU’s victory over Charleston

FAIRMONT — The excitement in the air was palpable Thursday night at the long-awaited game between the Fairmont State University Falcons and University of Charleston Golden Eagles.

University officials were pushing to be the first West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference school this year with a crowd exceeding 3,000, The gymnasium was packed tight in the lower level, with seats only available in the upper section.

The student seating in particular was the most full observers had seen all season, with fans clad in white jumping to their feet when the Falcons scored.

Austin Tingler, a student and member of fraternity Tau Kappa Epsilon, said that it was a fantastic crowd, the kind they’d like to see at every home game.
