Michael Palmer murder trial continued

Defense attorney cites ‘haystack’ of evidence received in recent days

FAIRMONT — The first-degree murder trial of Michael Ian Palmer has been continued to the October term of the Marion County Circuit Court. It had been scheduled to begin Monday, July 22.

In a pretrial motion hearing Friday before Circuit Judge Michael Aloi, defense attorney Sean Murphy requested the new trial date, the fifth for the Baxter man, citing what he called "a voluminous ... haystack" of computer evidence received just a few days ago.

Marion County Prosecuting Attorney Patrick Wilson objected, saying he was ready to go to trial and “wasn’t buying” the defense’s “haystack of files” argument.
