The project, is endorsed by the Greater Fairmont Council of Churches.

Financial donations can be given to the project until Aug. 14. On Aug. 15, volunteers will pack and prepare the backpacks to give away on Aug. 16 at the Marion County Election Center

Marion County Starts Smart is hoping to raise $10,000 for 1,000 backpacks. To register a child, parents and guardians can do so at the Marion County Starts Smart Facebook page.
