Arrests made in home burglaries in Marion, other counties

FAIRMONT — Two arrests have been made in connection with home burglaries in Marion County and other surrounding counties.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department arrested Eric Pittman, 42, of Fairmont, Wednesday after finding several stolen items on his property that were identified with breaking and enterings in other counties.

Chief Deputy Ralph Wright said Pittman is connected to several daytime breaking and enterings in the North Central West Virginia area. Wright said Pittman has stolen thousands of dollars worth of items from homes in Marion, Taylor and Monongalia counties.

Wright said the department had issued a search warrant for Pittman’s property on involving drugs. When they searched his property, deputies found several items that were reported stolen and then served a search warrant for stolen items.

The sheriff’s department also arrested Tracey Leggett, 27, on Wednesday for taking the property that Pittman had stolen and selling it or trading it for drugs. Leggett was arrested for transferring and receiving.

Wright said there are other arrests pending along with other charges. Bail is set at $20,000 for each.
